I’ve seen a few things in the last week or so that have captured my imagination, inspired me or just made me think. This isn’t really a top 10 list or ‘best of’ list – it’s more of a scrap book of stuff I thought was pretty cool.
1. Dirtgirlworld
Having a 1 year old daughter means I get to watch a little kids TV (woohoo). I came across a programme on cbeebies called dirtgirlworld that used a really good mix of animation and video. I thought the visuals were amazing and it created a really good effect (although slightly spooky).
The Programme is co produced by mememe productions and Decode Entertainment and designed by Hackett Films
2. The Dyson Air Multiplyer Fan
James Dyson and his posse are always making cool stuff (you’ve used their hand dryers right?) and they are famous for their bagless vacuum cleaners. They just brought out an amazing looking fan that would look great on any desk (especially mine).
This is what they say: The Dyson Air Multiplier fan works very differently to conventional fans. It uses Air Multiplier technology to draw in air and amplify it 15 times. With no blades or grille, it’s safe, easy to clean and doesn’t cause unpleasant buffeting. Find out more here http://www.dyson.co.uk/fans/
3. Won Park’s Dollar Bill Origami
Someone blogged this a couple of weeks ago and posted to Twitter. I couldn’t find the original post but found another here: http://www.gradientmagazine.com/2009/08/won-parks-dollar-bill-origamis/

4. CCTV Win
Not many of us like the idea of CCTV. A lot people view it as an invasion of privacy and a bit ‘Big Brother’ and this is probably a fair view. We often see blurry images on the news of suspects the police are trying trace but the quality of those images are usually pretty poor so what’s the point?
Every now and again CCTV works and this was the case this week when Mr Patel (a BBC reporter) had been followed for half an hour through Manchester city centre by two youths, who subjected him to a barrage of abuse as he attempted to set up a live broadcast.
Towards the end of this video it’s clear to see that the police were in direct contact with the CCTV operators and new exactly who’s collar to feel. the full story can be read here.
In my experience cctv security is a tough business
