Playing with type

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

I’ve been playing around with some ideas for a personal typography project. The idea started as a follow on from my infographic project which was a visual representation of my skill-set.

Creating a logo usage guide

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

I recently completed a logo design project for a client, and part of the original specification was to produce an accompanying logo usage guide. The guide was produced in a PDF format and contained comprehensive information on the structure, font usage and colouring of the logo as well as how the logo should be placed when used in various situations. The guide also detailed information on the file formats I supplied when delivering the completed project.

A logo design for Joel Richmonds Accountants

Sunday, January 23rd, 2011

I did some work for a new accountancy firm based in London recently. I wanted to try and create an interesting icon from the letters ‘j’ and ‘r’ whilst keeping the overall feel simple and clean. This is the end result (though the client never went for it):

What’s wrong with this poster?

Saturday, January 1st, 2011

My route to the office takes me underneath a railway viaduct and I pass the same advertising billboard everyday. There are a number of billboards just underneath the viaduct and the space gets bought up by smaller local businesses and the larger national corporates. The quality of the posters is generally pretty good and the environment has been been considered.

Presenting your logo design to the client in an effective way

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

So you’ve been briefed, done your research, sketched and put together a few logo ideas for your client. But what now? What’s the best way of presenting these to the client?

In my experience attaching a few jpegs to an email with a short “here are my ideas…” message doesn’t normally cut it. You have spent time on your ideas and looked at various options and applications of the logo so it’s important that you communicate that information in a visual way.
