Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011It’s been media overload with the capture and apparent killing of Osama bin Laden for the past few days. One thing that has interested me as a designer are the various illustrations that have been created of the compound that Osama was found in.

Household Brand Names
Thursday, February 10th, 2011I had a good online discussion the other day about household brand names. I heard the term ‘do the Hoovering’ and wondered if there were any other brands that had achieved the same success. To spawn a whole new verb is quite something but to have a brand name that we all just use by default even though there are plenty of other makes available is pretty cool I think.
Making Future Magic: iPad light painting
Tuesday, September 21st, 2010This film explores playful uses for the increasingly ubiquitous ‘glowing rectangles’ that inhabit the world.
Dentsu London use photographic and animation techniques that were developed to draw moving 3-dimensional typography and objects with an iPad. In dark environments, they play movies on the surface of the iPad that extrude 3-d light forms as they move through the exposure. Multiple exposures with slightly different movies make up the stop-frame animation.
