I’m surrounded by user interface design. From the moment I wake up I’m faced with some simple and some more complex interface designs that somehow I manage to work out. Someone, somewhere has thought about these designs and it’s been their sole purpose to make the experience easy to understand, easy to do and easy to remember.

Creating HTML for email isn’t like creating HTML for browsers. There are no standards as such so you can forget much of what you know about XHTML (actually don’t do that). You’ll find that the good old tables come back into play as poor old divs have been snubbed by most of the email clients.

I watched an episode of Design for life recently and in it, Philippe Starck was briefing the contestants on the next project. Before presenting the brief he lit some incense and told them that from that moment on, whenever they smelt incense it would remind them that it was their duty to ‘create something’.
